Step into our headquarters in Nijmegen, and a vibrant mosaic of voices, cultures, and perspectives will greet you. With more than 25 nationalities under one roof, each person brings a unique background to the table. It’s not just about flags or languages as much as it is about the daily reality of working side by side with colleagues who see the world differently, challenge your assumptions, and help you grow.

At Ynvolve, diversity is the engine that powers our business and the secret behind our ability to serve our clients across the globe. From the first coffee of the morning to the last project wrap-up of the day, our team’s mix of cultures, experiences, and ideas is embedded into everything we do.

But what does this actually look like in practice? How does being truly international help us achieve more, innovate faster, and build a stronger company?

I’ve been working with people from different cultures since graduating high school, and I’ve carried that international mindset with me ever since. Studying and living in the Netherlands and Denmark taught me to be adaptable and culturally aware, qualities that influence the way I work and connect with others today.

To explore this further, I sat down with my colleagues Antoine and Enora to discuss it and get their perspective.

The business case for diversity

First of all, let’s start with some quick facts:

  • Creativity & innovation: Companies with above-average diversity generate 45% of their revenue from innovation, compared to just 26% for those with less diversity.
  • Better problem-solving: Diverse teams approach challenges from multiple angles, leading to deeper analysis and more robust solutions.
  • Market insights: A multicultural team brings insider knowledge of diverse markets, helping companies better understand and serve a global customer base. Diverse teams are 70% more likely to capture new markets.
  • Financial performance: Organizations in the top quartile for ethnic diversity are 27–35% more likely to outperform financially than those in the bottom quartile. Companies with gender-diverse teams experience a 15% increase in financial returns above the industry average.
  • Employee engagement: Diversity and inclusion foster a sense of belonging, which increases engagement and reduces turnover.

Different perspectives, stronger outcomes

Every day, decisions are shaped by a chorus of voices. When a big deal is on the horizon, the team doesn’t just rely on one person’s experience. “When we have a bigger size deal, we always check with different teammates. How would they handle it? How would they communicate? We want to make sure we select the best idea before we approach the client,” Enora explains.

And it’s backed by research. Diverse teams are 87% more likely to make better decisions because they process information more carefully, challenge assumptions, and avoid groupthink.

Working in such an environment naturally sharpens our thinking. It encourages us to question our assumptions, avoid jumping to conclusions, and reflect more deeply. This not only benefits us personally but also adds value to the entire company in various ways.

Indeed, when a Dutch colleague spots a market trend that a French teammate hadn’t considered, or someone from Spain suggests a new approach, these moments of cross-pollination directly lead to better results.

Communication across cultures

Navigating a multicultural environment also means learning to communicate in new ways: we need to understand and adapt to different communication styles.

Antoine notes: “German people value clarity and efficiency, ensuring messages are straight to the point, while the French appreciate nuance and discussion, using persuasion and reasoning to build consensus.” These differences present direct opportunities for learning and growing.

Personally, working with people from different countries has really shifted the way I look at things. There isn’t just one way to solve a problem. What’s common practice in one place might not make sense somewhere else. It also influences how we interact with others. In some cultures, starting a message with a bit of friendly conversation is expected, while in others, people prefer to get straight to the point. Being in an international setting really helps develop more adaptable communication skills, become more open-minded, and appreciate different ways of thinking, which often leads to better outcomes.

Diversity in action

Ask anyone at Ynvolve about the biggest lesson from working in such a multicultural team, and you’ll hear the same word: flexibility. Enora sums it up perfectly: “We know we are all from different countries, so we know there are differences. We work with them.” This is a key ingredient in our ability to serve clients worldwide and respond to changing market needs.

Our real superpower isn’t the tech or the strategy, it’s the people. When you bring together more than 25 nationalities, you get a team that’s always learning, always adapting, and always ready to see things from a new angle. That’s how we keep ideas fresh, solutions creative, and our workplace genuinely fun.

Whether it’s sharing a recipe from home or tackling a challenge with a new perspective, we know that our differences make us stronger.

Diversity is who we are. And as we move forward, it’s clear to us: the more voices at the table, the better the journey!
