As we currently speak, the Internet is providing users with more and more augmented perceptions of the real world, as well as unparalleled real-time services and interaction. As a result, the service sector, manufacturing sector, marketing sector, and all vertical industries are beginning to experience new business opportunities. Increasingly, real-time processing power must be allocated closer to the location of operation, devices, and users. To ensure that everyone, everywhere can access the Internet, digital infrastructure will need to be distributed across a much broader geographical area.

Looking at digital acceleration from another angle, a core factor includes the promotion of diversity in tech workplaces, with diversity of thought leading to far better innovation and problem-solving. In addition, employers across the globe urgently need more talent in order to address an ever-widening skills gap that can repress acceleration – with the greatest untapped pool of talent being that of women.

For the dotmagazine issue onDigital Acceleration” in November/December 2024, dotmagazine welcomes articles from members, partners and customers of the eco Association/DE-CIX Group that highlight the importance of latency and performance, provide insights into the potential of building out infrastructure to the edge of the networks, present projects which advance capabilities of digital landscape and infrastructures, and demonstrate how tech companies can flourish via upgraded diversity.
